There are so many reasons to love Victoria; and its mild weather is just another reason! So many people visit this area each year, and most find favorable weather no matter when it is. Pack clothing that can be layered, so you’ll never go wrong.
Victoria has a sub-Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and warm, dry summers. In the summer, it’s not too hot; temperatures rise above 30°C (86°F) on an average of only one or two days per year.
Winters are not too cold, as temps fall below -5°C (23°F) on an average of only 2 nights per year. During the winter, the average daily high and low temperatures are 8.2°C (47°F) and 3.6°C (38°F), respectively.
Thanks to the rain shadow effect of the nearby Olympic Mountains in Washington State, Victoria is the driest location on the British Columbia coast, with much lower rainfall than other nearby areas.
Total annual precipitation is just 608mm (24in) at the weather station in Victoria compared with 1,589 mm (63in) in Vancouver, located just to the north of the city.
