The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria-has an extensive permanent collection of more than 17,000 works that reflects three main areas: our extensive Asian art holdings include the most comprehensive collection of Japanese art in Canada; our historical collections feature Canadian and international works; and our contemporary art collection features national and international artists, with a particular commitment to Canadian artists and those from BC and the local regions.Since its inception fifty-nine years ago, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria has offered a wide variety of educational opportunities to the community of the Capital Regional District. The Gallery programs appeal to a wide spectrum of the community: from children and adolescents, to university students, adults, seniors, and those with special needs.
