The University of Victoria (UVic) was established in Victoria, BC, in 1903 but was then called Victoria College. It was only in 1963 that it became an autonomous institution known as the University of Victoria. The University of Victoria has roughly 18,000 students where 60% are female. 32% are part time and around 2,500 of the student population are graduates. This university offers its students a vast range of opportunities from the Faculties of Business, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Humanities, Law, Medicine, Science, Medical Science, and Social Sciences. UVic also has the largest co-op program in Western Canada with over 40 places to study and that are eligible to get paid for their workplace experience nationally and internationally.
Not only is UVic in the top 20% for student financial aid in Canadian post secondary institutions but also has the best satisfaction rate when it comes to overall educational experience.
